How to Use
1. In the Kitchen (Cooking)
- The "Smoking" Rule: Traditionally, you heat the oil until it starts to emit a light white smoke, then turn off the heat and let it cool slightly before adding spices. This mellows the "bite" and brings out a nutty aroma.
- Tempering (Tadka): It's the "gold standard" for tempering dal, kadhi, or stir-fried vegetables.
- Marinades: Use it for paneer or chicken tikkas. The oil helps spices penetrate the food and gives a beautiful golden color.
- Pickling: Its natural antimicrobial properties make it the best preservative for homemade mango or chili pickles.
- Drizzling: Since yellow mustard oil is milder, you can drizzle a small amount over steamed vegetables or mashed potatoes (like in the classic Aloo Bharta) for a peppery kick.
2. For Glowing Skin
- Body Massage: Warm the oil slightly and massage it into your skin before a bath. It’s rich in Vitamin E, which acts as a natural moisturizer.
- Cracked Heels & Lips: Dab a drop on dry heels or chapped lips before bed. Its thick consistency creates a protective barrier.
- Face Glow: Mix a few drops with a little besan (gram flour) and yogurt for a traditional face mask to help remove tan and brighten skin.
3. For Strong Hair
- Scalp Treatment: Massage warm oil into the scalp to stimulate blood circulation and fight dandruff.
- Deep Conditioning: Mix it with equal parts coconut oil for a "pre-poo" treatment. Leave it on for 30–60 minutes before washing with shampoo to reduce frizz and add shine.
