BLACK SESAME Oil

​1. In the Kitchen (Culinary)

​Because of its high smoke point (around 250°C), it is one of the safest and most flavorful oils for high-heat cooking.

• ​The "Smoking" Technique: To mellow its intense pungency, heat the oil in a pan until it just starts to smoke, then let it cool slightly before adding spices or food. This makes it taste nuttier.
• ​Sautéing & Frying: Ideal for stir-frying vegetables like okra or potatoes, and traditionally used for frying fish.
• ​Pickling: Its natural antimicrobial properties make it the gold standard for preserving homemade pickles and chutneys.
• ​Raw Drizzle: In Eastern India, a teaspoon of raw mustard oil is often drizzled over mashed potatoes (Aloo Bharta) or chickpeas for a sharp, peppery kick.

​2. For Body & Skin (Topical)

​Mustard oil is a "warming" oil, making it perfect for muscle relief and skin health.

• ​Muscle & Joint Relief: Warm a small amount of oil and massage it into sore muscles or joints. It improves circulation and provides deep-seated warmth.
• ​Cold & Congestion: A classic home remedy involves heating mustard oil with a few cloves of garlic and rubbing it on the chest and the soles of the feet before bed to relieve congestion.
• ​Natural Moisturizer: Apply a thin layer before your bath to lock in moisture. For sensitive skin, mix it 1:1 with coconut oil.

​3. For Hair Care

​Mustard oil is rich in alpha fatty acids and Vitamin E, which act as a natural conditioner.

• ​Scalp Massage: Warm the oil and massage it into your scalp for 10–15 minutes. This stimulates blood flow and helps fight dandruff.
• ​Pre-Wash Treatment: Apply it from roots to tips, leave it for 30 minutes (or overnight), and wash with a mild shampoo. It strengthens the hair shaft and adds a natural shine.
